Speech Pathology Tasmania is pleased to add to our services a new clinic focusing on swallowing disorders. The clinical term for swallowing disorders is dysphagia.

Patients experiencing difficulties swallowing often require only one or two appointments, sometimes with a follow-up several months later.

The introduction of a clinic specifically for adult dysphagia clients is in response to requests and referrals for one-off swallowing assessments. The clinic will focus specifically on NDIS meal management assessment (sometimes referred to as an ‘oral eating and drinking care plan’) for adults. The clinic will operate once a month on Mondays.

Speech Pathologist Helen Keen (pictured) will provide this service from our Hobart clinic. Helen’s experience includes more than five years working with swallowing clients in both the UK and Tasmania.

In north and north-west Tasmania, experienced Speech Pathologist Sheila Steele conducts swallowing assessments for SPT.

You do not need a referral from a doctor to book into the clinic. NDIS clients will need to complete a Service Provider Agreement.

To request a swallowing assessment or oral eating and drinking care plan, please phone reception on 62345717 or reach out via our contact page.
