Orton-Gillingham Language Approach Advanced Morphology is a one-day training course that is designed to provide educators with strategies to enhance the higher-level literacy skills of students. The training has special emphasis on Morphology for developing:

  • Decoding
  • Encoding
  • Vocabulary development

 

Previous attendance and completion of the 5-day Orton-Gillingham Basic Training Program is recommended,
but not an essential prerequisite of attending this training.

The focus of this course is on extending your Orton-Gillingham Language Approach Basic Training, developing your understanding of morphology and how to add this to your instructional toolbox.

Your facilitator, Linda McKillop, is a master trainer and is recognised nationally for expert knowledge and experience in the Orton-Gillingham Language Approach.

What participants can expect?

After completing the Advanced Morphology training course, you will be equipped to incorporate morphology into teaching across various subjects, including English, Science, and History.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understanding what morphology is, and why it is important.
  • How to teach Latin roots and affixes, and Greek combining forms, within OG Language Approach lessons.
  • Understanding and learning how to use a scope and sequence in OG Language Approach lessons for 1:1, small group, or whole class instruction.
  • How to teach four suffix spelling patterns: 1-1-1 Doubling, 2-1-1 Advanced Doubling, E-rule, and Y-to-I.
  • Understanding chameleon or assimilated prefixes.
  • Activities to add to your OG Language Approach lessons.
  • Diagnostic assessment for advanced OG students.
