Volunteering to be a Straight Forward Mentor for individuals recently released from prison is an opportunity to make a profound impact on their journey toward reintegration. Many individuals leaving prison face significant challenges in communication and literacy, skills which are essential for navigating daily life, securing employment, and building meaningful relationships.

As a volunteer you will receive ongoing support and training from our team of Speech Pathologists in how to conduct mentoring. As a mentor, you will provide invaluable support for a period of 18 months to 2 years. It’s a vital role to help individuals gain confidence, improve their reading and writing skills, and develop the tools they need to thrive in society. Your connection with them can be a catalyst for change, fostering personal growth and creating a ripple effect of positive outcomes in their lives and the community.
