More Than Words®
If you are the parent of an autistic child (6 years or under), or your young child is struggling with social communication, then this program is for you!
More Than Words is an internationally recognised and evidence-based program developed by speech-language pathologists at The Hanen Centre in Canada. The program teaches parents how to make the most of everyday interactions with their child to grow language and communication skills.

Parents are children’s most important teachers. More Than Words® helps parents to learn practical strategies that you can use to support your child’s communication skills whilst engaging in everyday routines and activities.
Every child is unique. More Than Words® teaches parents to become the expert on THEIR child, so you can continue to help and support your child long after the program ends.

Program Highlights
What to Expect

More Than Words ® is a parent program, which combines adult-directed learning, with individualised support for the child.
This 13 week program consists of: - An individual parent-child assessment
- 8 parent group sessions
- 3 individual sessions with parent and child
- A take-home workbook & an individual end-of-program report
- Through participation in the More Than Words ® program, families will benefit from:
- A naturalistic, child-centred approach that builds on each child’s strengths and interests while integrating learning into everyday activities.
- Connection with and support from other families who have similar parenting experiences.
- High-quality learning experiences, including video examples, group discussion, and guidance on applying strategies with your child.
- Individualised support from an experienced Hanen-certified speech-language pathologist to set goals and provide personalised guidance and feedback.
- An evidence-based approach backed by over 50 years of research focused on helping parents actively support their child’s communication development.
